1. Unfold the shoe horn completely before use.
2. Position the spatula securely against the inside of the shoe's heel.
3. Slide your foot gently into the shoe, allowing the shoe horn to guide the heel into place.
4. Remove the shoe horn once your foot is fully inside.
5. Fold it after use for compact storage.

A shoe horn is one of those very simple accessories that can make a meaningful difference over the life of a good pair of shoes. Forcing your heel into a shoe—or using your fingers to push it down—can gradually distort the heel counter and surrounding leather.

When travelling, I particularly like a folding shoe horn because there is really no excuse not to bring one. It occupies very little room and allows you to maintain the same habits away from home that you would with your finest shoes in your own wardrobe.
