1. Wrap a clean section of the cloth securely around your fingers.
2. Apply a small amount of your chosen cream or polish to the cloth.
3. Work the product into the leather using controlled circular motions.
4. For buffing, move to a clean section of the cloth and polish until the desired shine is achieved.

A good polishing cloth is about control. I like to wrap the cotton tightly around my index and middle fingers so there are no loose folds touching the leather. This gives you a smooth working surface and much greater precision when applying creams or building thin layers of wax.

Keep separate areas of the cloth for application and buffing, and if you regularly use pigmented products, consider dedicating different cloths to light and dark colours to avoid unwanted colour transfer.
