1. Load a small amount of cream or wax polish onto the tip of the brush.
2. Apply sparingly to the leather, working the product evenly across the desired area.
3. Continue with the appropriate polishing or buffing step for the product being applied.

I like keeping separate spreading brushes for different colour families—particularly one for black and another for lighter or neutral products.

The small head is also excellent around the welt. This is an area people often overlook when using only a cloth, yet careful application here makes the entire shoe look considerably more finished.
