For dry cleaning, gently work the bristles along the welt, stitching and other crevices to loosen accumulated dust and dirt.

For product application, place a small amount of cream or wax onto the bristles and work it carefully into areas that are difficult to reach with a cloth or larger brush. Saphir specifically recommends the brush for conditioning the welt and stitching and for applying wax polish where additional protection is desired.

The welt is one of those areas that is very easy to overlook during routine shoe care. A full-size applicator brush often cannot work neatly into the narrow space where the upper meets the welt, which is precisely where this little brush earns its place in a proper shoe-care kit.

I also like keeping a dedicated small brush for darker waxes. It gives you much greater control and prevents excess polish from spreading unnecessarily across the upper.
