1. Ensure the leather sole is clean and dry before application.
2. Apply Leather Sole Guard sparingly using a dry cotton chamois cloth.
3. Allow to dry for approximately 1 hour.
4. Apply a second light coat if additional treatment is desired, wiping away any product that has not been absorbed.
5. Allow the second application to dry for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight, before wearing the shoes.

Leather soles are beautiful because they remain a natural, functional part of the shoe, but that also means they deserve attention. I prefer treating them preventatively rather than waiting until they have become excessively dry or worn.

Saphir recommends applying Sole Guard at least every three months. I would also pay attention to how and where you wear your shoes: a pair regularly exposed to wet pavement will naturally require more attentive maintenance than one reserved for indoor or occasional wear.
