1. Ensure the suede or nubuck is completely dry.
2. Use the Crêpe Brush at room temperature so the natural rubber remains soft and flexible.
3. Brush the surface gently, allowing the slightly adhesive crêpe to collect dust and loose dirt.
4. Work in several directions where fibres have become flattened or uneven.
5. Finish by brushing in one consistent direction to create a uniform appearance.
6. Wipe accumulated surface dirt from the crêpe with a clean, dry cloth when necessary.

Avoid excessive pressure, as forceful brushing may damage or deform the crêpe ribbon. Always test on an inconspicuous area before treating the complete item.

Many people assume a Crêpe Brush needs replacing once it begins to darken, but the change in colour is usually just evidence that it is doing its job. The natural rubber gradually collects dust, dirt and loose pigment from the material without losing its cleaning ability. I simply wipe away the heavier accumulation with a dry cloth and continue using it.

Temperature makes a noticeable difference with natural crêpe. If the brush has been stored somewhere cold, allow it to return to room temperature before use. The ribbon will become softer and slightly tacky again, allowing it to lift dirt with very little pressure. Pressing harder does not improve the result and will only shorten the life of the crêpe.
