1. Remove dust and surface dirt with a clean, soft brush.
2. Test the cream on an inconspicuous area before treating the entire item.
3. Apply a very small amount with a soft cotton cloth, gently massaging it into the leather.
4. Leave the cream to dry for approximately five minutes.
5. Buff thoroughly with a clean, soft cotton cloth until the desired shine develops.
6. After treatment, keep the item in a clean, dust-free place while the freshly conditioned leather settles.

Apply sparingly. Shell cordovan responds better to small quantities and thorough buffing than to heavy layers of product.

One of the most common questions I receive is how to deal with the distinctive waves that develop across shell cordovan. These are part of the leather’s character, so I never try to conceal them with additional cream. Instead, I insert shoe trees and brush along the waves to keep the surface smooth and well defined.

If the shoes have been caught in the rain, allow them to dry naturally before applying Cordovan Cream. For routine maintenance, I use Neutral; I reserve the coloured creams for areas where the shade has genuinely faded or needs greater depth.
