• Amiral Gloss is deliberately different from a nourishing cream or softer polishing wax. Its purpose is to create the extremely smooth wax surface necessary for a true mirror finish rather than to serve as the leather's primary conditioning treatment.

1. Prepare the leather first. Clean the shoes if necessary and make sure the leather is completely dry before polishing.
2. Condition and polish before glazing. Apply an appropriate nourishing cream such as Saphir Médaille d'Or Crème 1925 Pommadier Cream or Saphir Beauté du Cuir Crème Surfine. Amiral Gloss does not replace this conditioning stage.
3. If desired, apply Saphir Médaille d'Or Pâte de Luxe before Amiral Gloss to establish the initial wax foundation.
4. Allow the previous products to settle and buff the shoe before beginning the mirror-shine process.
5. Wrap a clean, soft cotton polishing cloth tightly around one or two fingers.
6. Take a very small quantity of Amiral Gloss and apply it to the rigid area you wish to mirror shine, particularly the toe cap or heel counter.
7. Work the wax over the leather using small, controlled circular movements.
8. Apply only thin coats. Several very fine layers will produce a smoother and more reliable finish than one heavy application.
9. As the wax foundation begins to develop, introduce a tiny drop of water and continue polishing gently in small circular movements.
10. Continue alternating between minute quantities of Amiral Gloss and tiny drops of water. The wax layers will gradually fill the microscopic texture of the leather and create an increasingly smooth surface.
11. As the reflection develops, use progressively less wax, less water, and lighter pressure.
12. Continue until the desired glass-like mirror finish has been achieved.

Advice: Do not build Amiral Gloss over flexible areas of the shoe where the leather naturally folds. Concentrate the glazing on the toe, heel counter, and other rigid sections.

Amiral Gloss is where I would turn when the objective is not simply a beautifully polished shoe, but a flawless military or parade-level mirror shine.

The most important thing to remember is that this is a finishing wax. It should not replace your cream or nourishing polish underneath. Prepare the leather properly first, establish a good foundation, and then bring in Amiral Gloss for the final glazing stages.

The harder, faster-drying formula allows you to build that glass-like surface more quickly, but resist the temptation to compensate with more product. Thin layers are everything. Too much wax at once makes the surface more difficult to control.

Once the mirror begins appearing, become increasingly delicate. Use tiny amounts of wax, minute drops of water, and progressively lighter pressure. That final restraint is often what separates a good shine from a truly flawless one.
