1. Remove loose dirt and dust from the shoe before applying any care product.
2. Collect a small amount of cream or wax with the tips of the bristles.
3. Apply the product to the welt, stitching, seams or other narrow areas using short, controlled movements.
4. Work the product gently into the leather without overloading the surface.
5. Allow the treatment to absorb or dry according to the instructions for the product being applied.
6. Buff the leather with a separate horsehair polishing brush or soft cotton cloth.
7. After use, remove excess product from the spreading brush and allow it to dry naturally.

A spreading brush is especially useful around the welt, where polish can be difficult to apply evenly with a cloth. I recommend treating these detailed areas first and then applying the product to the broader sections of the upper.

Use only a small amount of cream or wax on the bristle tips. Overloading the brush can deposit excess product around the stitching and make it more difficult to achieve a clean finish.

Whenever possible, keep separate spreading brushes for black, dark-coloured and neutral or light-coloured products. This helps prevent unwanted colour transfer. The Small Spreading Brush is intended for controlled application rather than final buffing, so always finish with a clean polishing brush or cloth.
