1. Remove surface dust and dirt from the leather before applying any care product.
2. Select a cream or wax polish appropriate for the leather and its colour.
3. Load only a small amount of product onto the tips of the bristles.
4. Apply the product to the leather using small, controlled circular movements.
5. Work carefully around the welt, seams, eyelets and other detailed areas.
6. Spread the product into a thin, even layer without leaving heavy deposits.
7. Allow the cream or wax to dry according to the product instructions.
8. Polish the leather with a separate horsehair brush or clean cotton cloth.

Wipe excess product from the spreading brush after use and store it in a dry place.

A spreading brush is intended for application rather than final polishing. Use it to place a controlled amount of cream or wax onto the leather and into areas that are difficult to reach with a cloth. Once the product has dried, change to a clean horsehair polishing brush to develop the finish.

I recommend dedicating each application brush to a particular colour family. Light bristles are especially practical for neutral and lighter-coloured products, while a separate dark-bristled brush should be reserved for black or dark polish. This prevents residual pigment from transferring unexpectedly onto another pair of shoes.

Although a completely clean brush can remove light dust from suede or nubuck, do not use it on these materials once the bristles have absorbed cream or wax.
