1. Remove all loose dust, dirt, and surface contamination from the leather.
2. If the leather requires deep cleaning, clean it first with Saphir Beauté du Cuir Etalon Noir® Saddle Soap and allow it to dry completely before applying the oil.
3. Apply a small amount of Neatsfoot Oil Softener evenly to the leather using a clean cloth.
4. Massage the oil gently into the surface, paying particular attention to areas that feel particularly dry or stiff.
5. Allow the leather sufficient time to absorb the oil completely.
6. Once absorbed, wipe away any product remaining on the surface with a clean cloth.
7. If the leather remains exceptionally dry, assess it after absorption before deciding whether another light application is required.

Always test on an inconspicuous area before full application, as nourishing oils can alter the appearance or deepen the colour of some leathers.

Neatsfoot oil is something I approach with patience. When an old saddle, pair of boots, or substantial piece of leather feels extremely dry, it can be tempting to saturate it immediately. I prefer several controlled applications, allowing the leather to absorb each one before deciding whether it genuinely needs more.

This is particularly important with aged leather. More product is not necessarily better care. Your objective is to gradually restore suppleness and nourishment without overwhelming the leather.
