Five steps to extend your designer bag's life

When I think about shoe care products, my grandparents pop into my head.

I am not alone in remembering elderly people fixing, reusing or reinventing their shoes, bags or clothing.

Our seniors have a great deal to teach us when it comes to sustainability.

Surely, you've ever had a bag with worn corners that you don't use as much or, for example, a pair of sneakers with yellowed soles that are no longer what they used to be?

All these signs of wear and tear such as scuffs or loss of color are fully repairable, and we must also keep in mind that the more care we give to our accessories, the better they will be preserved over time.

This is really important when it comes to bags that require a large investment, such as those from Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Fendi and even a tiny Jacquemus.

No matter which material they are made from, there are products for every need that may arise.

Then let's see what we can do so that our bags last longer:

1- How to clean a leather purse:

As we said before, every material requires a specific product. In any case, it is important to keep the bag clean to avoid the leather being damaged or the suede losing all its freshness.

By keeping the leather clean, we will be able to keep it perfect for much longer. We do not recommend getting the purse wet, as this usually makes the situation worse than it helps.

It is vitally important to ensure that our leather purse is kept at optimum humidity levels, otherwise it will dry out if it is stored in an unfavorable environment or fungus will proliferate.

Everything that can be done to avoid having to treat the leather, will be the best way to keep it properly for a longer period of time.

For best results, we recommend a monthly cleaning, especially on the leather bags you use the most. Even if they do not have any stains, it is important to perform this treatment regularly.
Another recommendation to keep in mind is that, before applying any product to clean the leather purse, dust and surface dirt must be removed from the leather. Otherwise, the results may not be as expected, so keep this in mind before proceeding.

For cleaning leather bags, Saphir Medaille D'Or Cleansing Lotion is very useful, it is as simple as applying a small amount of product on a chamois.

Do not forget the inside of the bag, it is necessary to keep it clean as well.

2- Store your purse properly:

It is not enough to put it in the closet, if the bag is made of leather or suede, it is essential to store it in a place where there is not much humidity and keep it in a cloth bag.

This is indispensable because otherwise it is likely to get fungus and damage the leather.

If it happens that your leather bag is affected by fungal stains, don't worry because we can fix it, but remember that prevention is always better than cure.
With Saphir Renomat, apart from removing other types of stains and cleaning the leather in depth, it also cleans the stains and fungus proliferation.

Before applying, brush to remove dust, then proceed to apply the product using a clean cotton cloth in circular movements. Try to make a previous test in your bag in a discreet place before its total application and try to cover all the zones of the leather bag so that the results are uniform.

This product opens the pores of the leather so after its application remember to moisturize and nourish the leather to prevent it from drying out and wearing out prematurely.

The iconic Chanel 2.55 bag and other bags from the great Maisons of high fashion, are an investment. These luxury bags increase in price every day, so we are sure that you will be interested in keeping them in a way that they will not spoil and that they will be kept in the best possible conditions.

3- Use a protector:

Especially if you are one of those who leave your bag anywhere. Protective sprays will help you to keep your bag away from all kinds of liquids and also help your bag to get less dirty.

But, do us a favor. Although these products are very effective in protecting from liquids and dirt... please don't even think of leaving a Hermes on the floor!

Our bestseller is called Saphir Médaille D'Or Super Invulner, just spray the product about 25-30 cm away from the bag evenly.

Once you have applied the product, let it dry so that the protector can bring out its full potential.

4- Give life to the color of your purse:

The sun, rubbing, use... we already know that these are factors that affect the color of the bags. To keep this problem at bay, it is highly recommended to use products such as Saphir Medaille D'Or Shoe Polish Cream.

We recommend that you try to use the color closest to the color of your purse. If there is no exact color, it is advisable to use a color that is a shade darker.
This process is really satisfactory because you get a great result that leaves the leather purse as good as new.
Do you have wear on the corners? It also has a solution, a wonderful product called Saphir Renovatrice will be your best ally, and its application is really simple.
Do not apply it on the entire bag, this product is only to cover scratches and wear on the leather. With a cotton cloth apply the product on the area to renew and hallucinate with the results.
It will always look better applying thin layers than a very thick one, so if you need to repair a deep scratch or wear, apply layer by layer and let dry between them for an optimal result.

We have almost 20 different shades, so we are sure you will find the color that matches your bag, anyway, if you have any doubt, you can consult our experts.

5- Moisturize the leather:

This step is much more important than it seems. And no, olive or coconut oil aren't enough.

Your handbags will thank you to stop treating them like a salad if you start using products designed and formulated especially for the treatment of leather purses.

By keeping the leather moisturized, we ensure that the leather retains its shine, softness and suppleness, which will keep it perfect for longer and make it more difficult for the leather to be damaged.

Our star product for this purpose is the Saphir Medaille D'Or Renovation Cream with Macadamia Oil. This cream moisturizes down to the deepest layers of the epidermis, helping to repair small scratches.

By following these tips, we are certain that your leather purse will shine out of their own light. It is true that it is easy to clean leather purses, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, just show them this article!
